No, there are absolutely no subscription charges with Phonko. You simply buy credit and then use the credit to pay only for the calls you actually make.
There are no connection fees with Phonko. As promised, you pay just for the calls you make. No hidden or additional fees.
No, there are no emergency calls with Phonko. Our service is not a substitute for your regular telephone service provider.
Please make sure that:
  • You are dialing correctly. Make sure that you are adding the country code to your local numbers.
  • You have sufficient call credit to complete your call.
  • You are not experiencing problems with your internet connection.
It is possible to have connection problems due to complexity of some connections, different quality standards, etc. If you experience such problems often, please contact us and we will try to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Our calls are charged in 60 second intervals.

Calls to our local access numbers are charged as local calls by your phone carrier. If you have unlimited calling minutes, there should not be any charges by your phone carrier. If you use the Phonko app, you are making the call using the internet, and there might be data charges by your phone carrier. Again, if you have unlimited data plan there should not be any charges by the phone carrier. You can also choose to use Wi-Fi if possible and there should be any charges by the phone carrier.

Yes, you can set your caller ID to show your number. To set up your caller ID please follow the following steps

- On your Phonko app

Log in on the Mobile Phonko app and click "Settings" and then "Caller ID". Here you can add and verify your phone number and set it as your Caller ID.

- On your Phonko computer software

In the menu option choose "Account" followed by "Your personal profile". In the "Phone numbers" section you can add and verify your phone number and set it as "Caller ID" by clicking on the radio button next to it.
No, you cannot receive calls with Phonko.

Please go to our login page and click on forgot password. Enter your email address registered to your account with Phonko, and we’ll send you an e-mail shortly.
Yes, it is even advised that you change your password every once in a while for security purposes. To change your password, login to your account and click on change password.
Our local access numbers give you access directly from your phone to call anywhere in the world with our cheap rates. To use our local access numbers, please register your number for the pinless dialing in your account, then choose your local access number from out list, dial the local access number, you will be prompted to enter the number you wish to call, and you are set to go.
Our pinless access allows you to add your phone number to your Phonko account, which lets you use our local access numbers directly, without entering a pin number.
To add your number to the pinless dialing, you have to login to your account. Click on the Pinless dialing option, add you phone number, and you are done.
Yes, you can view all the calls you’ve made in the call history section in your account.
Please consider the following:
  • Are you using the correct username and password? A lot of customers with more than one voip account are using the wrong username and password on the wrong website. You can check your username in the email we sent you when you first registered.
  • Are your caps lock on?
  • Are you connected to the internet?
It is possible that we suspected fraud on your account and have locked your account for your security. Please contact us and we’ll resolve the issue promptly.
For security purposes, we only allow 1 purchase every 24 hours for each payment method. If you have not made a payment with the same card in the past 24 hours and the issue is not with your card provider, please contact us, and we’ll resolve the issue promptly.
A card or bank statement will show your purchases through our website as “Phonko - Voip Credit”. Sometimes our payment processor will send request for authorization to verify that the card is issued and the bank will allow it to be authorized. These authorizations will show in your card activity as pending $1 or $0 charges. However this is not a charge and it will disappear from your statement; depending on the bank, it will be removed from your statement in anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks.
Mobile and PC apps
You can download our mobile apps from here.
Ensure your smartphone has a live Wi-Fi or data connection, close and restart the app, if that fails, please try restarting your smartphone and launching Phonko again.
Ensure that you have an account with the relevant app store and that you are logged in to your account.
Make sure there is enough storage space on your phone.
Please check the app requirements (Android, iOS) and your OS version. Ensure you are using the latest version of Phonko and your OS. Try restarting the phone and if that fails, try removing the app and re-install it.
The Phonko PC App is a soft phone you can install on your PC to make calls using our service and cheap rates.
The minimum system requirements for using the PC app are:
  • PC running Windows Vista, XP, 2000 (with SP2), Win7 or Win8
  • 300 MHz processor
  • 128 MB RAM
  • 10 MB free disk space on your hard drive
  • Sound Card, and headset with microphone
  • Internet Connection broadband: Cable, DSL, with minimum 100 kbit/s up/downstream)
You can install the Phone PC App on as many computers as you wish, and you will be able to enjoy calls and be billed appropriately regardless of which computer is used. Simultaneous calls are not allowed.
You can download the app here. Once the download is complete, follow the instructions on the screen. When installation is finished, start the app and enter your login details when prompted.
While you use the Smartphone app as well for Android or iPhone the call cost will be discounted from your Phonko credit, depending of the destination call and the established rates.

These calls via apps waste data traffic, and depending of the traffic and bandwidth you have in contract with your mobile operator the service quality can be very different.
Yes! The best way is via Wi-fi because usually the bandwidth is higher than the 3G bandwidth so the call quality will be much better.
Are you using the correct username format? To login to Phonko, please enter your username*phonko.com

EXAMPLE: if the registered username is "isabella", the username in the Smartphone or PC app must be isabella*phonko.com.
